Fundraising Initiatives

Direct mail

The Foundation seeks support through direct mail on a quarterly basis during the year. Funds raised through appeal letters are used to purchase state-of-the-art medical equipment to improve patient care.

Pledge program

The Foundation’s pledge program provides an efficient method of contributing on a regular basis without the paperwork. By joining the pledge program, donations are transferred electronically or via credit card to the area of interest at Epworth HealthCare.

Network Club

A membership program is available to donors who wish to become more closely associated with the organisation. In addition to receiving regular communication through newsletters, this dedicated group are invited to attend hospital tours and seminars to keep them informed of the developments and milestones Epworth has achieved.

Memorials and tributes

Families often choose to have their friends and relatives donate to the Foundation in lieu of flowers when a loved one has passed away. Similarly, others choose to direct donations in lieu of gifts at times of celebrations such as a birthday or anniversary. Gift envelopes are available from the Foundation to facilitate this giving program.

For those who prefer to ask their friends and family to donate online, a tribute page can be established under the Epworth Medical Foundation on the Everyday Hero website. Visit www.everydayhero.com.au/event/epw_in_mem
for more information. Staff in the Foundation are happy to assist in this regard.

Corporate support

There are a number of ways that companies can assist in the Foundation’s work. Initiatives include sponsorship, workplace giving, gift-matching and payroll deduction programs. Company representatives are welcome to contact the Foundation to discuss partnership opportunities.

Trusts and foundations

Applications are made to corporate and community trusts and foundations throughout Australia to gain support for specific areas of need. In addition many donors choose to give through a prescribed private fund or perpetual trust. Staff members are available to furnish trustees with the information required to fulfil their obligations.

Special events

In conjunction with our special events committees, Epworth Medical Foundation holds a series of gala events throughout the year. These include a gala ball, cocktail party, charity lunches and golf day. These events attract some of Melbourne's leading corporate, philanthropic and private individuals to raise funds for critical areas of need within Epworth HealthCare.

Community involvement includes:

  • Sponsoring an event
  • Providing a sought-after auction or raffle item
  • Organising a group to attend an event

To find out more about our upcoming events go to Calendar of Events.

Auxiliaries

Epworth is grateful to the volunteers who give their time freely to provide support and raise funds for a special area of interest.

Epworth’s auxiliary groups include:

  • Friends of Epworth in support of the healthcare group
  • Heartbeat in aid of the cardiac unit
  • Cancer Unit Auxiliary in support of the oncology ward

Contact details for each of the groups and their upcoming activities are available from the Foundation.

Leaving a legacy

Leaving a legacy through a bequest is the greatest way to invest in the future of Epworth HealthCare. Many who have experienced the care at Epworth choose to express their appreciation by making a bequest to the Foundation. The Foundation’s Bequest Planning Manager is available to guide those wishing to leave a legacy in their Will.

Donor recognition

Donors who make significant contributions to Epworth Medical Foundation are invited to be acknowledged on the Foundation’s Honour Board. Those acknowledged have either made a major gift or have given regularly over a long period of time. Over 1000 listings currently adorn the boards including individuals, companies, associations, trusts, foundations and estates.

Additionally, those who have made a major gift or a provision for Epworth Medical Foundation in their Will are invited to join the Epworth Benefactors Club. The Group Chief Executive hosts several functions throughout the year to recognise these honoured friends.
